We aim to empower you with the knowledge and skills to acheive the right combination of activity and nutrition for your lifestyle. Have a look through the services we provide and call us to discuss your specific needs.
There are many aspects to fitness, strength, flexibility, and so on, and with each aspect there are numerous tests that can be used to assess that aspect of your fitness. When it comes to measuring your heart lung (cardio) fitness, the Gold standard is Gas Exchange analysis which tells us how much oxygen your body uses at different intensity levels of exercise. This information is the most accurate available for giving individuals the best advice of what your training heart rate zones should be for weight management or for your competitive sport.
FOR THE NEW OR RECOMMENCING EXERCISER - we can provide a submaximal VO2 test for the new exerciser just starting out. This means we determine a safe introductory level to begin a new and effective exercise program.
Alternatively we can conduct a VO2 max test for the regular exerciser or competitive athlete who wants to know if their training is producing the maximum results they are aiming for.
We are able to conduct the test on a Treadmill for runners or walkers or a Computrainer for cyclists. The Computrainer will also give us Power based data so you can determine workload zones for use with your Power meter rather than try and do it in the field with environmental or traffic influences. If you use heart rate for training the Power results can be used to match to heart rate intensity.
This information will ensure a program can be designed by our Accredited Exercise Physiologist or your trainer that will produce the results you are exercising for. No generic wall chart for the whole population, a test regularly used on and previously only available to Olympic and Professional athletes at a fraction of the cost.
All clients undertaking a VO2, sub-maximal or maximal test will be pre-screened to ensure it is safe for you to complete the test. Those wishing to undertake a VO2 max test will undergo additional screening to ensure safety for all in completing this level of testing. Please note some clients may be asked to seek medical clearance from their Doctor before testing for their safety.
