Weight Management

 

For the majority weight management is actually about trying to reduce body fat levels (better known as weight loss) for health reasons, such as to restore good health, self esteem (mental health) or other health reasons.

When that is the focus it's all about the bank - your body bank and how much of a fatty deposist it has.  It might be a bank with plenty of deposits you would like to reduce, which is the most common scenario.  For fewer it's a case of too few deposits.

Put the same amount in as you take out, the balance stays the same.  Body fat maintenance.

Put more calories in than you take out, the balance (fatty deposists) increases.

Put fewer calories in than your are withdrawing and the balance (fatty deposists) decreases (weight loss in most cases).

Regardless of your metabolism or any other health factor influencing your body fat level it comes back to counting - calories in and out to achieve the desired shift in body fat levels - up or down.
